Nicola was elected onto the BFFS Scotland Committee, in a role that eventually evolved into "Information Officer", in 2004 at the BFFS Scotland AGM. In this role she has edited the BFFS Scotland Newsletter, the BFFS Scotland website and associatted web resources such as the BFFS Scotland Wiki, the BFFS Scotland Facebook and the BFFS Scotland Blog. In 2008 Nicola had to resign the Information Officer post to focus on an MSc in e-learning but continues to write for and edit the bffsscotland.co.uk festivals coverage.

Nicola has been reviewing, particularly during the Edinburgh International Film Festival, since 1999 for various publications including Fest, IOFilm, ItchyEdinburgh, EdinburghGuide.com and the publications of BFFS Scotland and Edinburgh University Film Society. A life member of Edinburgh University Film Society Nicola has over 8 years experience of the film society movement in Scotland.

Some of her favourite films are ludicrously over the top musicals like the Gang's All Here (1943), Les Parapluies de Cherbourg (1964), Zero Patience (1993) and 8 Femmes. Nicola is also a huge fan of Cary Grant, the Marx Brothers , Busby Berkeley, George Cukor, The Dardenne Brothers, Michel Gondry and will watch pretty much anything connected to Woody Allen despite his variable pedigree.

When she's not in a cinema or watching DVDs on her ebay-acquired projector Nicola can also be found belly dancing, doing web/geeky things for sheer fun, knitting in a post-modern groovy sorta way (though not yet hyperbolically) and trying to bring back the golden age of hollywood in dress form with her trusty 1970's beige Singer. Like all the other BFFS Scotland reviewers she also has to work for a living (we all just do this for the love), if you're interested in her day job take a look at the SUNCAT homepage.

Last year at EIFF Nicola loved the Anita Loos season at EIFF 2007, Control, Les Chansons d'amour, In the Shadow of the Moon and the opening night Gala, Hallam Foe. Nicola is this year looking forward to an excellent set of documentaries and retrospectives and lots of quirky looking features on her "must watch list", away from the highbrow stuff she's also very excited about WALL*E and Feintheart.
